Stephen Curry’s magical opening week landed him predictable recognition - he was named NBA Western Conference player of the week Monday.

Curry averaged a league-high 39.3 points, 7.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds in leading the Warriors to victories over New Orleans, Houston and New Orleans again. He especially tormented the Pelicans, scoring 40 against them on Opening Night and 53 more Saturday night.
“Hopefully, it’s a good omen for the rest of the year,” Curry said of the award. “You try to start off on a good foot. Three games in, we’re 3-0.
