Vince Carter turned down a chance to play for the Warriors this season, but the 41-year-old has left open the possibility of joining a contender such as Golden State next season.
Carter announced Wednesday he will return for his 21st season and it seems likely he won’t be returning to the Sacramento Kings, who outbid the Warriors to sign the eight-time All-Star.
The Warriors signed Nick Young this offseason to the same one-year, $5.2 million deal that they offered to Carter, who instead opted for a one-year, $8 million contract from the Kings.
“The opportunity was there (to sign with the Warriors), but they couldn’t match what was offered here,” Carter told The Undefeated.
