Cavaliers waive ex-Warrior Patrick McCaw

Nearly six months later, Patrick McCaw might receive what he wanted after all.

The Cleveland Cavaliers plan to waive the ex-Warriors guard less than a week after agreeing to a two-year, $6 million deal. The Cavaliers had until Monday before deciding whether to retain McCaw on a prorated, $3 million deal for the rest of the season. Assuming he clears waivers, McCaw will become an unrestricted free agent.

Yes, plenty of questions loom on what deal and role McCaw can command on the open market. After all, it took McCaw more than five months before even receiving an offer sheet the Warriors declined to match.
