Back in September, Warriors owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber had every reason of their own to extend GM Bob Myers’ contract past next season and to give him a raise and a promotion.
Because, you know, the Warriors have been sort of good recently, and Lacob and Guber had just watched Myers (among several others) work the books and connections to add Kevin Durant as a free agent.
So it was no surprise when the Warriors announced that Myers had been promoted to team president for basketball operations and, according to multiple sources, Myers also received a contract extension past 2018 and a raise that lifted his salary into the top GM echelon.
