Ayesha Curry, expecting her third baby, has become the latest high-profile mother-to-be to suffer from a rare pregnancy condition that is often described as an extreme, 24/7 onslaught of morning sickness that goes on for months.
Kate Middleton has dealt with the condition throughout all her three pregnancies. The condition is hyperemesis gravidarum, or HG. It is what the Washington Post called “a 24-hour-a-day marathon of nausea and vomiting that can last throughout the first trimester and, in many cases, for the entire pregnancy.”
HG can lead to women losing up to 10 percent of their body weight — at a time when they are supposed to gain weight — and cause severe dehydration, nutritional disorders, metabolic imbalances and even thyroid and liver dysfunction,” according to Parents.
