The head coaches had a clever back and forth before Friday’s game between the Mavericks and Warriors, comparing the buzz created by the darlings of the NBA to all-time great bands.
“By NBA standards, this is bigger than The Rolling Stones on tour,” Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle said. “Wherever (the Warriors) go, there’s a mass of people and a huge following. They’ve earned that kind of attention, whether they like it or not.”
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr played with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls when they won a single-season record 72 games in 1995-96.
