After the Golden State Warriors were unceremoniously dumped from the play-in tournament by the Sacramento Kings (who were in turn unceremoniously dumped by the New Orleans Pelicans), a season’s worth of basketball drudgery was erased; there really is something special about watching postseason hoops without trying to control your surging heart rate or chewing your fingernails into oblivion. As I wrote in my last post, these playoffs have featured a dramatic changing of the guard, with all of the usual contending suspects watching from the sidelines. But the eventual NBA Finals matchup we’re left with (Celtics vs. Mavs, tipping off on Thursday) is a testament to two teams that pushed their chips firmly onto the board.
