It was 55 years ago Thursday that Wilt Chamberlain did something he really didn’t want to do: score a record 100 points in an NBA game.
Chamberlain seemed a bit embarrassed by the Philadelphia Warriors efforts to get him the record that night in front of 4,124 fans in Hershey, Pa.
“The most important thing about that 100-point game was tat he tried to come out of the game before he got 100,” said Al Attles, who was Chamberlain’s teammate and the longest-standing member of the Warriors organization.
