Warriors big man Anderson Varejao will likely reportedly miss the Rio Olympics in his native Brazil because of a back injury.
Back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins recommended Varejao skip the Olympics, according to ESPN's Marc Stein. It's another blow to the medal hopes of Brazil, which is also without center Tiago Splitter.Varejao has been on the Brazilian national team since 2002, helping the it win gold at the 2003 Pan American Games and at the 2009 FIBA Americas Cup. He carried the Olympic Torch in Sao Paolo on Sunday before shipping back to the U.S. on Monday for the back exam.
