The Warriors won the NBA championship, and everything changed. In years past, this was the time — the eve of the regular season — for wildly ambitious predictions about the Warriors’ chances. As fans, we’d find new ways to rationalize the same old problems. We’d convince ourselves that this would be the year, that things finally would be different. Then, suddenly, it was the year, and things were very different. The Warriors are defending NBA champions, a sentence that still makes me a little giddy when I type it. Now no prediction is too wildly ambitious — this is, after all, the team that won the third most games in NBA history last season.
