Hours after learning they would be losing Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets, the Golden State Warriors' brass worked with Brooklyn on a sign-and-trade deal that allowed the team to acquire 23-year-old point guard D'Angelo Russell.
Russell was a restricted free agent coming off an All-Star season in which he averaged 21 points and seven assists per game. He is expected to sign a four-year, $117 million contract with the Warriors, and cannot be traded again until Dec. 15.
But who is D'Angelo Russell beyond just the numbers?
He went to high school in Florida and played one college season at Ohio State before getting drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the second pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
