The Golden State Warriors didn't waste much time putting their mark on this series, winning Game 1 over the Cleveland Cavaliers in convincing 104-89 fashion - despite some terrible games from Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
The bench carried the Warriors throughout the game, counteracting some poor shooting from the Splash Brothers. Curry and Thompson combined for just 20 points on 8/27 shooting, but Golden State's bench outscored Cleveland's 45-10.
Golden State wasn't able to take control of this one until the second quarter, using a 17-5 run to take a 14-point lead. Cleveland was able to cut into the lead some, but they still trailed 52-43 at halftime.
The Cavs continued their comeback into the third quarter, and they took their first lead since the opening minutes of the game late in the period. However, that success was extremely short lived. Golden State's bench spearheaded a 29-8 run that put the game well out of reach.
Shaun Livingston led the way for the Warriors with 20 points, while Andre Iguodala (12 points) and Leandro Barbosa (11 points) also provided the Warriors with offensive sparks off the bench. Draymond Green led Golden State's starters with 16 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.
LeBron James nearly put another triple-double (23 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists) to lead the Cavs. Kyrie Irving's 26 points helped carry the offense, and they also got big double-doubles from Kevin Love (17 points, 13 rebounds) and Tristan Thompson (10 points, 12 rebounds).
Game 2 of the Finals will be on Sunday at 8:00 pm ET on ABC.
