Golden State Warriors assistant coach Luke Walton has not been offered the New York Knicks head coaching job. That is, if you believe Knicks President Phil Jackson, who claims he has not offered the position to any candidates thus far.
Press accounts of coaching actions are untrue. Nobody has been asked nobody said no.

The New York Post and the New York Daily News offered conflicting accounts on how Walton felt about the vacancy, but both reported that a phone conversation took place between Jackson and the former Los Angeles Lakers forward. The pair have maintained a close relationship since their days in L.A., but whether or not Walton would leave the 73-win Warriors for a head coaching role is unclear.
Earlier this season, with head coach Steve Kerr sidelined, Walton guided Golden State to the best start in NBA history (24-0). Since the return of Kerr, the young assistant has had his name tied to several NBA teams in need of a new coach, but the Lakers would likely present the most attractive option given that Walton grew up in the area.
As for the Knicks, other rumored candidates under consideration include current interim head coach Kurt Rambis, Charlotte Hornets assistant Patrick Ewing and former Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau.
