Here Are The Updated Odds Of The Warriors Breaking The Bulls' Wins Record

The Golden State Warriors have been on pace to break the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' mark for best single-season record in NBA history all year long, and with just nine games remaining on their schedule, it now appears that it's a foregone conclusion that they'll break the record.

But how much of a foregone conclusion is it really?

At 66-7, Golden State has to go just 7-2 down the stretch to break the Bulls' old mark of 72-10. That seems very likely for a team that didn't lose their second game until the third month of the season, but FiveThirtyEight.com broke down just how likely it is.

According to FiveThirtyEight, Golden State has a 66 percent chance of winning at least 73 games this season, along with an 89 percent chance to at least tie Chicago's record of 72 wins.  The Warriors also have an eight percent chance of winning out and finishing the season with a 75-7 mark.

Of course, these projections are based on the Warriors being healthy and sitting any players for rest. Head coach Steve Kerr insists that won't be the case as the players have made breaking the record one of their goals.

“Yeah, this whole idea of setting a record does make things a little trickier,” he said. “It’s the players who are setting a record. It’s not the organization. It’s the players who are doing it. So they will absolutely have some say in matters down the stretch in terms of how we approach everything.”

Golden State's next game is Tuesday night at home against the Washington Wizards, where they will try to win their 54th straight game - another NBA record. They will play six of their nine remaining games at home.
