It was a night for records to be broken. On Saturday night, the Warriors had their first win against Memphis since November 3, 2010, as well as their first win on the second night of a back-to-back this season. The Splash Brothers combined for 52 points in Saturday’s win over Memphis, and Stephen Curry broke the Warriors record for most three-pointers made with the team.
Early in the the second half, Curry knocked down his 700th career three-pointer, tying him with Jason Richardson. He had only two three-pointers in Saturday’s game, but the second one vaulted him into first place on the Warriors’ all-time list with 701.
Klay Thompson carried the team with 30 points during Saturday’s game. David Lee added 23 points and Stephen Curry had 22 points—20 of which were scored in the second half. Curry also had yet another double-double adding 15 assists, two more than Memphis’ team total. The Warriors played a good game on both ends of the court. Lee had 11 rebounds and Andrew Bogut had 12—the Warriors outrebounded Memphis 47-40.
After an embarrassing game on Friday in Houston, the Warriors were out to prove how good they actually are. Thompson began the game connecting on 7 of 9 shots in the first quarter, which helped them build their lead to as many as 16 points in the first half. Golden State ended up winning Saturday night’s game 108-82.
The Warriors continue their road trip on Monday in Curry’s hometown against the Charlotte Bobcats.
“Iggy” update:
Coach Mark Jackson says that Andre Iguodala (hamstring strain) is getting closer to returning. He has missed eight games so far.
