According to Bay Area sports columnist Tim Kawakami, an argument with Warriors assistant GM Kirk Lacob (son of owner Joe Lacob) may have escalated tensions between Jackson and Warriors management:
One major flash point, according to a source: Mark Jackson and asst-GM Kirk Lacob have zero relationship since a blow-up recently.

Golden State plans to pursue several candidates to fill their coaching vacancy. Jackson leaves Golden State with a 121-109 overall record, and two consecutive playoff appearances in the last two years. Despite a positive relationship with his players, Jackson never saw eye-to-eye with Warriors management and clashed with multiple assistants.
