The Golden State Warriors have the best record in the NBA, and are the favorites to win the championship this year. With a young roster, the Warriors look like they're just entering a long championship window, and they're looking to free agency to continue improving their roster. Here's who they're targeting:
Draymond Green, SF/PF, Golden State Warriors
Green has taken over the starting power forward role for the Warriors and has solidified himself as a key contributor in his second season. He won't be offered a max contract on the open market, but Golden State will have to make a bid fairly close to that to keep his services. However, the Warriors have said they'll do whatever they need to do to keep him around and want to sure up his situation before addressing their other needs.
Robin Lopez, C, Portland Trail Blazers
The Warriors have been looking to add depth to their big man rotation, and Lopez would provide it. Andrew Bogut has a history of injury problems, but Lopez is an equally good defender that would significantly ease the pain when Bogut has to miss an extended period of time. Golden State would gladly give some money to someone who’s a proven commodity in the league and a great locker room guy.
K.J. McDaniels, SG, Houston Rockets
McDaniels is one of the most promising young rookies in the league, but will be a free agent this offseason after signing just a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, who drafted him in the second round. He's already a good defender, and his elite athleticism will flourish in Golden State's up-tempo system. McDaniels would be an immediate upgrade over Leandro Barbosa as Klay Thompson's backup and has the potential to develop into one of the team's top players.
