Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr played under Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown back in 1999 and again from 2002-03 when Brown was an assistant for Gregg Popovich's San Antonio Spurs.
So, after the Warriors stomped the hapless 76ers on Tuesday night, Kerr couldn't help but express sympathy for Brown's current plight.
“It’s tough,” said Kerr, via SFGate.com. “All of my friends in the coaching business the past couple of years kept saying, 'Whatever you do, if you can, try to get to a team that at least has a chance to win. Otherwise, it’s just miserable night after night.’"
What impresses Kerr the most, though, is just how professional and optimistic Brown has been in the face of adversity.
"I’m amazed at the job (Brown is) doing — just watching every night the energy that he has through all of these losses. His communication with his guys is relentless. He just keeps that positive spirit and energy with their group. It is inspiring, because that’s not an easy thing to go through.”
