The Golden State Warriors have been keeping an eye on free agent sharpshooter Ray Allen for some time now, but it sounds like Allen is more likely to retire than he is to stage an NBA comeback:
Windhorst: "I have now heard that Ray Allen is leaning towards retiring."

Steve Kerr and the Warriors were never the favorite to land Allen, who reportedly favored the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Warriors and Cavs were just two of several teams to pursue the NBA's all-time leading three-point shooter, with Memphis, San Antonio, Washington, Chicago and the L.A. Clippers also interested. The Warriors have no shortage of three-point shooting on their roster, but were hoping to add another guard with playoff experience to the rotation.
Golden State's needs have been somewhat lightened over the last week despite poor showings against the Lakers and the Clippers, as young SG Justin Holiday has emerged as a potential option off the bench. Holiday is averaging 11.7 points on 57% shooting in his last three games (along with making 6 of his 13 three-point attempts), and he's seized the opportunity in his first extended action of the season. Holiday certainly won't be as noteworthy an addition as Allen would be, but the Warriors certainly can't complain about finding some additional scoring on their existing bench.
The Warriors begin a six-game homestand against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.
