The Golden State Warriors clinch series and head to Round 2 of the playoffs

Thursday night, the Golden State Warriors clinched the first round playoff series and will be advancing to the second round of the playoffs. The Warriors were able to win Game 6 with a final score of 92-88, against the Denver Nuggets.

 

At the beginning of the fourth-quarter the Warriors led the Nuggets 73-62 but that lead didn’t last long. The Nuggets were able to get within two-points of the Warriors in the final seconds of the game. With 10 turnovers in the fourth-quarter, it seemed like the series was headed back to Denver. Luckily, the Warriors were able to close the game, advancing them to Round 2 where they will face the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.

 

The Warriors made an announcement at the beginning of the game: David Lee was cleared to play. After his injury in Game 1, he was supposed to be sidelined for the rest of the playoffs due to a torn right hip flexor. With 2:23 left in the first-quarter, Lee stepped onto the court and played for one minute and 37 seconds. Lee wasn’t able to play much, but putting him in created a roar in Oracle amongst the fans, giving them the motivation that they needed in order to cheer the Warriors to a victory.

 

Curry finished the game with 22 points, eight assists and four rebounds. He dominated the third-quarter going 4 out of 5 on three-pointers. Curry went on a personal 8-0 run during the third.

 

As for the other players, Bogut had one of his best games of the season. He ended the game with 14 points, 21 rebounds, four blocks and three assists.

 

Draymond Green entered the game early and continued to contribute throughout the rest of the game. He totaled 16 points and 10 rebounds off of the bench.

 

The Warriors were able to close this series against the Denver Nuggets, 4-2. On Monday, they will head to Texas to play the San Antonio Spurs for Round 2 of the playoffs.
