The Golden State Warriors are trying to win their first NBA title since the 1970's, and they've done so with first year head coach Steve Kerr running the show. However, a lot of people credit the work of former head man Mark Jackson for building and developing their current roster - so why will he be in the broadcast booth instead of on the sidelines?
1) Repeated clashes with management
While Jackson had a lot of success on the court, owner Joe Lacob explained just how bad things got between Jackson and management off the court:
"Look, I don't think we should get into the great details of what did happen, other than to say that this is a decision that was based on what was good for the organization as a whole.
"And when I say the organization as a whole I don't mean just the team and just the 15 players that are involved and the coaching staff. I mean everybody. There's 200 employees here.
"So when we look at the organization going forward and the kind of coach we want and... not just the performance but everything else, all these factors matter. We took all that account.
"Part of it was that he couldn't get along with anybody else in the organization. And look, he did a great job, and I'll always compliment him in many respects, but you can't have 200 people in the organization not like you."
2) Growing disconnect with players
Stephen Curry was the one player that was the most vocal about his desire to keep Jackson, but there were several others - namely Andrew Bogut - who acknowledged that his personality and "Preacher Mark" persona was wearing thin on them. Considering one of this team's biggest attributes it their chemistry, the front office didn't want to risk messing that up.
3) Steve Kerr's potential
Even though had no previous coaching experience prior to this year, the fact the New York Knicks president Phil Jackson - the best coach in NBA history - hand-picked Kerr as the guy he wanted to lead his team suddenly made Kerr the most desirable coaching candidate in the league. The Warriors certainly took notice and made him an offer he couldn't refuse - and it's worked out pretty well.
