The Cleveland Cavaliers got out to a hot start and quickly built a double-digit lead early in the first quarter, and while Golden State managed to take the lead in the second quarter, the Cavs still led 51-48 at halftime. Both sides continued to go back and forth in the third quarter as the Warriors tied the game.
The game remained close throughout the fourth as they remained tied with a minute to play, but a Stephen Curry jumper gave Golden State a two-point lead. Two Timofey Mozgov free throws tied the game back up with 31 seconds left, and after missed shots by Curry and LeBron James, this one went into overtime.
Golden State totally controlled the extra period, holding Cleveland to just two points in OT as they grabbed the win.
Key Stat:
The Warriors got a HUGE lift from their bench as their reserves, led by Andre Iguodala, outscored Cleveland's bench 34-9. The Cavs also scored just once during the last eight minutes of the game, making one of their last 13 shots.
Golden State MVP:
Stephen Curry was at it again for the Warriors, dropping 26 points while dishing out eight assists. Iguodala provided the biggest spark off the bench with 15 points while Klay Thompson chipped in another 21 points and six rebounds.
Cleveland MVP:
LeBron James did everything for the Cavs again tonight, scoring 44 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Kyrie Irving showed little ill effects from various lower body injuries on his way to 23 points, seven rebounds, and six assists - though he did leave the game with two minutes left in overtime after aggravating an injury.
Timofey Mozgov also had a big night with 16 points and seven rebounds.
