Golden State and Cleveland each had sloppy starts to the game, but after the Warriors built an eight-point lead in the first quarter, the Cavs came back and tied it at the end of the frame. Golden State looked like they were going to take control of this game with a a strong start to the second quarter, but Cleveland went on a 18-4 run to put themselves in front 47-45 at the half.
The Cavaliers extended their lead in the second half and held a double-digit advantage with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but Golden State pulled off a miraculous 11-point comeback with three minutes to play to force overtime.
Cleveland then rebounded to grab a five-point lead at the start of the extra frame and after two Curry free throws gave the Warriors the lead with less than 30 seconds to play, Matthew Dellavedova hit two free throws with 10 seconds left that proved to be the difference.
Key Stat:
The Warriors had a terrible night from the field, shooting just 33/83 (39.8 percent) from the field - including 8/35 (22.9 percent) from long range.
Golden State MVP:
Klay Thompson was on fire from the opening tip, scoring 34 points. Stephen Curry picked up his play late in the second half and in overtime, scoring 19 points - including the layup that tied the game with seven seconds left in regulation.
Cleveland MVP:
LeBron James absolutely carried the Cavs in this one, scoring 39 points while grabbing 16 rebounds and dishing out 11 assists. Timofey Mozgov also had a big night with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
