The Golden State Warriors encountered more adversity in their Western Conference Semifinals series with the Memphis Grizzlies than they have throughout their historic 2014-15 season.
The Warriors got over the Memphis "grit and grind" hump though, and there's a sense of magic around this team that was only heightened by this ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY unreal third-quarter buzzer beater in the team's 108-95 Game 6 closeout win in Memphis.
That Curry dagger from way beyond the limits of downtown squashed some major momentum being built by the Grizzlies, sucking the life out of the building and putting Golden State up eight, 76-68, after three.
Memphis would fight tooth and nail to get back in it after trailing all night long, but it was Steph Curry and the Warriors' night as they reach their first conference final since 1976.
Key Number: +36
The Golden State Warriors finished this series off like they finished off so many opponents this season -- hitting three-pointer after three-pointer. Golden State finished with 15 triples, posting a +36 margin from beyond the arc to shoot Memphis right out of the playoffs.
Golden State MVP:
Stephen Curry. Stephen Curry. Stephen Curry. And more Stephen Curry. Curry tied a Warriors' franchise postseason record with eight threes, finishing with 32 points on 11 of 25 shooting to lift the Warriors to the Western Conference Finals.
Oh yeah, and he had 10 assists too. Absolutely breathtaking performance by the NBA MVP.
Memphis MVP:
Marc Gasol finished his season with a major flourish, posting a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds. It wasn't enough to stop the Warriors' barrage, but it was a fine season-ending swansong nonetheless.
What's Next?
The Warriors prepare for the winner of Sunday's Rockets/Clippers Game 7, with Game 1 of the West Finals slated for Tuesday.
The Grizzlies remain home and start the long offseason ahead.
