Harrison Barnes made more than an impression at last night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Not only did he wow the crowd with his one-handed dunk over Nikola Pekovic, but he also had an outstanding rebounding night.
Barnes had a lot of potential coming into the regular season and as the season progresses, we are watching him turn into a future star. Coach Mark Jackson seems to have known this at the start of the season and we saw this when he put Barnes in the starting forward position in replace of Brandon Rush. This was a good call on Jackson’s part considering that Rush is now out for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL.
With all of the injury prone players on the Warriors’ roster this year, Barnes will be vital for their success this season. At twenty years old and a rookie this season it is remarkable that Barnes has been able to accomplish so much.
Barnes averages 10.7 points per game and 5 rebounds. In the Warriors game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Barnes scored 10 points and had 11 rebounds. Although he is not one of the leading rookies, he has continued to progress as a player.
Barnes is a remarkable shooter and rebounder. Barnes will be able to become a better player once he gains more experience and matures as a player. Coming in as a rookie, Barnes is already a remarkable player; he may even be good enough to get rookie of the year this 2012-2013 season.
