Golden State Warriors Rumors: Warriors sign Ognjen Kuzmic

The Golden State Warriors have activated Ognjen Kuzmic's buyout clause, and the player will leave Unicaja Malaga for Northern California in the next few days. Last week, we reported that a deal for Kuzmic looked imminent, and it appears Golden State has reached an agreement with Unicaja and the player's agent for his immediate transfer.

Kuzmic, a 7'1 center, is a Bosnian national who spent the last three years playing professionally in Spain. The Warriors drafted Kuzmic with their 52nd pick in the 2012 draft, and they expected him to spend the next few years developing his game abroad.

Kuzmic spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons with Unicaja's B-team, Clinicas Rincon, and last year Unicaja loaned the player to FIATC Joventut in Spain's top division. With FIATC, Kuzmic averaged 6.9 points and 5.5 rebounds in about 18 minutes per game.

Kuzmic's buyout clause was set at €800,000. The Warriors may decide to have Kuzmic spend time in the D-League while he acclimates to North America, but the age and injury history of the Warriors frontcourt may press him into action sooner rather than later.
