For the second straight year, the Warriors are upgrading Oracle Arena.
The announced upgrades include a new 3,000 sq. ft. VIP club located on the south side of the event level, increased floor seating, and 16 new theater boxes. Overall, 178 new premium seats are being added (64 box seats and 114 floor-level seats).
It's unclear what these upgrades mean for the planned new arena in San Francisco (still slated for 2017-18), but word is the SF arena has run into a series of delays and budget problems.
The Warriors surpassed all expectations last season, making the second round of the playoffs and falling to eventual finalists San Antonio in six games. The expansion is no doubt intended to satisfy increased demand for premium seating - the Warriors go into 2013-14 as one of the most exciting teams in the league.
