The Warriors begin their four game road trip with a matchup against the undefeated Philadelphia 76ers (3-0) on Monday. On Saturday night, Golden State played the Sacramento Kings and led by as many as 27 points, eventually beating the Kings 98-87.
The 76ers have been one of the biggest surprises of the early season. With rookie Michael Carter-Williams—averaging 20.7 points, 9 assists and 4.3 steals—leading the way, the 76ers will be a tough match for the Warriors on Monday night.
The Warriors started the season with a 31 point win, but their offense has been sloppier than expected so far—Stephen Curry has had 18 turnovers in the last two games. Playing a rising team like the 76ers, the Warriors will have to make sure that they take care of the ball.
Despite the turnover problems, there’s been plenty to like about Golden State’s offense. The Warriors lead the league in assists, and have been making 52.5 percent of their shots—the “Splash Brothers” combined for 49 points in their win over Sacramento on Saturday. They’ve also been averaging more than 18 fast-break points per game.
Warriors' SF/PF Harrison Barnes-- who has been out due to a left foot inflammation-- has been participating in shootaround with the team but will not be playing in Monday nights game. His status is day-to-day.
These are both young, rising teams who have made a name for themselves in the early going. On Monday night, expect a fast-paced, high-scoring game.
