The Golden State Warriors have been in a rut, and they need to get out of it. They have lost six out of the past eight games. The Warriors are a strong basketball team and proved to the NBA earlier this season that they are worthy of the playoffs; but they aren't playing like a playoff team right now. The Warriors are dropping in the Western Conference standings and if they're planning on making the playoffs they need to bounce back.
After losing Brandon Rush to a torn ACL at the beginning of the season and both Charles Jenkins and Jeremy Tyler during the trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors have signed 6-foot-9, 223-pound forward Malcolm Thomas to a 10-day contract. He is a strong defensive player, which is something that the Warriors are missing. We have yet to see much of him; he played a mere three minutes during the Milwaukee game on Saturday. But, there are five more games in the ten day period that he is with the Warriors, so expect to see a lot more of Malcolm Thomas.
Saturday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks brought Monta Ellis back to the arena. Always a fan favorite, Monta Ellis stated that he felt at home coming back to the arena. I’ll admit that I’m still a little bitter that Monta was traded for a center that isn’t helping the Warriors much.
Speaking of Bogut, it is too much to say that they should trade him; but they need to do something with him. It is understood that the Warriors need a large center in order to have a complete team. But Bogut just doesn’t seem like the right one. He does help the Warriors, averaging around 6 points a game, 7 rebounds and 2 assists; but he doesn’t seem to click with the rest of the team. For the first half of the season they had their team without Bogut, and they played impeccably. Now that Bogut is back, the Warriors have been losing game after game.
If the playoffs are their main goals this year, they're going to have to make some changes. They have a good team right now but not playoff worthy good. Connection is key for a team who wishes to be victorious; and the Warriors do not have that connection right now. It is up to the Warriors when they bounce back. We all know that they will, lets just hope that it is sooner rather than later.
