Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson sustained a concussion during the team's Western Conference Finals-clinching win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, and he will be out indefinitely per a team announcement.
"Following extensive examinations over the last two days -- including neurological tests earlier this morning -- Warriors guard Klay Thompson has been diagnosed with a concussion. He will not return to the court until he is symptom-free and cleared under the NBA's concussion protocol guidelines," the Warriors said in a statement. "He will be evaluated daily and there is no timetable for his return."
Thompson vomited, bled out of his ear and experienced several other "concussion-like symptoms" following the game after he was kneed in the head by Rockets forward Trevor Ariza in Game 5, his father Mychal Thompson said to ESPN.
It is possible that Thompson could miss the start of the team's NBA Finals series in Oakland against the Cleveland Cavs next Thursday, but it is still too early to tell at this juncture.
