It's going to be the Warriors first season since 2005 without Monta Ellis. Don’t freak out, that’s a good thing! Warriors’ fans may even cheer on Joe Lacob this year instead of booing him over the trade.

Remember in 2009 when Ellis publicly said that he could not play alongside Stephen Curry and one of them had to go? Well, the Warriors granted Ellis his wish when they traded him to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Fans as well as players idolize Ellis, but in reality the Warriors didn't win many games with him as their leader. Since Ellis was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, Curry has taken his rightful position as point guard and is ready to lead the team. With Curry’s unselfish style of playing, the Warriors will be able to play more as a team this year; instead of playing like MONTA and the Warriors, they’ll be playing simply as the Warriors.
I know what you’re thinking. Without Monta, who is going to score all of the points? Ellis was averaging 21.5 points a game. Ellis was a selfish player, he wasn’t thinking about the team when he was on the court. I mean, his initials are M.E., and that’s whom he thinks about… himself. (But oh, how I wish it were me). The other players will finally have their chance to add to the scoreboard.
Doesn’t the saying go, “There is no ‘I’ in team”? You can’t just depend on one person and expect them to take the team to victory. Because of Ellis, most of the players on the Warriors team were not able to play to their full potential. Ellis overshadowed them all and that includes Stephen Curry.
Curry will finally be able to take his rightful position as point guard with Klay Thompson playing alongside him as shooting guard. Through the Ellis trade, the Warriors acquired a big man. The Warriors have been waiting for a center like Bogut, and trading Ellis was the way to get him. As the trade happened, Warriors fans, including myself were appalled by the decision of trading away our star player for an injured Bogut. But, in the long run this trade will benefit the Warriors more than hinder them. The Warriors have a good team this year. If the Warriors are able to stay healthy, the Warriors could make the playoffs this upcoming season, without the help of Monta Ellis.
