The Golden State Warriors have the best record in the NBA, yet many question if they have the makeup to advance through the uber-competitive Western Conference and win a title. Here are five reasons why the Warriors will be the team hoisting the trophy at the end of the season:
5) Golden State has the league's best offense...
The Warriors lead the league averaging nearly 110 points per game, utilizing a balanced attack to dismantle a defense from every angle possible. They also lead the league in assists, making themselves even harder to guard.
4) ...and the league's best defense
Golden State also holds opponents to just 42.5 percent shooting from the field. They have length and athleticism all over the court that makes things difficult for the opposition. The Warriors rank just 11th in points allowed per game, but that has more to do with their up-tempo style of play than any weakness they have.
It's very rare for a team to lead the league in both offense and defense, but that's exactly what has propelled Golden State to the league's best record.
3) Star Power
The old adage in the NBA is that you can't win in the playoffs without a superstar, and Golden State has two in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. The Splash Brothers have each taken a leap this season and have become two of the best players in the NBA, and the team's rise up the standings has corresponded with their progression as players.
2) Depth & Versatility
The Warriors have 12 players that average 11 minutes or more, which allows head coach Steve Kerr to keep his best players fresh and well rested. That depth also allows them to play multiple different lineups, going big or small based on their opposition.
1) Home Court Dominance
Golden State has the best home record in the NBA, and considering the fact that they'll probably grab the top overall seed, they'll have home court advantage throughout the postseason. As long as they continue to take care of business in Oracle Arena throughout the playoffs, they'll win the whole thing.
