The Golden State Warriors are on top of the basketball world after winning the NBA championship, but this young team seems poised to win multiple titles. Here's what they need to do to hoist the Larry O'Brien trophy again next season:
1) Re-sign Draymond Green
Green has emerged as a star in just his third season in the league, but his short and cheap contract from being a second-round pick will come off the books this offseason. Golden State is paying him just $915K this year, and Green is likely to receive a max contract on the open market. The Warriors will have to go way over the cap to sign him, but he's a vital piece of their team.
2) Stay healthy
We saw injuries derail numerous teams during the regular season and through the postseason - particularly with Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving's injuries with the Cavs - representing how many things have to go right for a team to win the title. Golden State is a deep team, but they need all hands on deck to be the dominant team they were all season.
3) Stephen Curry maintaining his level of play
Curry took a giant step forward in his progression this season on his way to winning the MVP, and that catapulted the Warriors to another level. It remains to be seen if he can continue to play at that level, and if he can, Golden State will be unstoppable again next year.
4) Continued sacrifices from important players
Golden State went from being a really good team to a great team this year largely due to the sacrifices that players like Andre Iguodala, David Lee, and Andrew Bogut made. All three players gave up either a spot in the starting lineup or sacrificed major minutes for the betterment of the team, but now that they've experienced success, they may want bigger roles, hurting team chemistry.
