After losing the last two games, the Golden State Warriors are on the verge of being pushed to the brink in the NBA Finals. Here are four things they need to do to climb back into the series in Game 4:
1) Slow Matthew Dellavedova
At this point, it's clear that LeBron James can't be stopped no matter what Golden State does. However, the Cavs are winning because the Warriors are letting an undrafted backup second-year player torch them on both ends of the floor. Dellavedova is a great perimeter defender, but he still scored 20 points in Game 3 with his severely limited offensive game. Golden State needs to hold him below 10 points for them to win Game 4.
2) Make three-point shots
Golden State is shooting just 31.3 percent from three-point range as a team so far in the Finals, a number that just won't cut it. The Warriors use the long ball as the biggest weapon in their offense, shooting over 40 percent from long range during the season. They need to get back to shooting that well – or better – for them to win Game 4.
3) Stephen Curry needs to play like the MVP
Curry finally caught fire in the fourth quarter of Game 3, and the Warriors are hoping that's a sign of things to come for the rest of the series. Every team struggles when their best player is struggling, and Curry is the engine that drives Golden State’s high-powered offense. He needs to bounce back in the big way for the Warriors to win.
4) Role players MUST step up
Harrison Barnes, Draymond Green, and Andrew Bogut have all struggled mightily - to put it nicely - all series, while Andre Iguodala and David Lee have shown they aren't afraid of the moment. However, all five of these players need to play like their normal selves for them to get back on track.
