The Golden State Warriors are four wins away from the franchise’s first NBA title in 40 years, and Dubs fans are rightfully elated about the prospects of a championship parade through the Bay Area. Here are five reasons why Golden State will dominate Cleveland in the Finals:
4) Perimeter dominance
Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are undoubtedly the best backcourt in the league, and while the Warriors can hurt you from anywhere on the court, the “Splash Brothers” are the two that set the tempo for the rest of the team. Cleveland’s perimeter defense is inconsistent at best, meaning Curry and Thompson should be able to operate with relative ease on the perimeter.
3) Small ball excellence
The Cavs are at their best when LeBron James is playing power forward, allowing Cleveland to go small and play a more fact-paced game. However, Golden State has been virtually unguardable this postseason when they go to their small ball lineup, canceling out Cleveland's biggest advantage.
2) Stephen Curry
No one has been able to stop the MVP all season, and while Kyrie Irving is a great offensive player, he's not good defensively. Even if the Cavs put Iman Shumpert or LeBron James on him, he's too quick for those guys. Expect Curry to have big games all series.
1) Home-court advantage
The Warriors have only lost three times at home this season – once to the Spurs, the Bulls, and the Grizzlies. Golden State blew out the Cavs at Oracle Arena during the regular season (112-94 on January 9), and their home crowd will give them even more of an advantage in the Finals.
