The Golden State Warriors swept the New Orleans Pelicans in their first round series, showing their regular season style of play can carry over to the postseason. Here’s what the sweep taught us about the Warriors going forward this postseason:
3) Golden State is much more than a jump shooting team
The Warriors shot 45 percent from the floor as a team in the first round because of their ability to create good, high percentage shots for themselves. Golden State still uses the three-point shot as a major weapon, but their ability to get the ball into the paint to create the shots they want didn't go unnoticed.
2) It's going to be extremely tough to beat the Warriors in Oracle Arena
Golden State only lost two games at home during the regular season and they were dominant there in Games 1 & 2 against the Pelicans, holding 20-point leads at one point in each of those contests. New Orleans was able to keep both of those games from becoming total blowouts, but the Warriors have made it clear that they have the best home court advantage in the league.
1) Golden State is very resilient
The Warriors didn't face much adversity in the regular season, but they showed they're mentally strong enough to handle situations that aren't going their way with the 20-point fourth-quarter comeback they pull off in Game 3. Yes, the Pelicans choked a little bit, but instead of packing it in, the Warriors turned up the intensity. That resiliency will serve them well later in the playoffs.
