2014 is Stephen Curry's year to be an All-Star

With the 2014 NBA All-Star game a little over a month away, the voting for the starters will be closing soon and the official starters will be announced. Stephen Curry currently trails Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul in third place, but with Bryant injured (and asking fans not to vote for him) it’s likely that Curry will move up to second place in fan voting and therefore start in the All-Star game.

Last year, Curry didn’t make the All-Star team, but he was able to make it out to All-Star weekend where he participated in the 3-point shooting contest. Although Curry didn't make the team in 2013, since then he's proven just how worthy he is of the “All-Star” title.

In order to be an All-Star, you have to produce like an All-Star - and Curry, who averages 23 points per game (ranked sixth in scoring in the NBA), easily falls into this category.

When it comes to 3-pointers, although Curry is ranked 17th in the NBA in 3-point percentage, he currently holds the NBA record for the most 3-pointers made in a single season.

Oh, and when he isn't shooting, Curry is a passing genius. Curry is currently ranked number two (behind Chris Paul) in assists per game, with 9.6.

Last season, Curry was the first player in NBA history with 250 three-pointers and 500 assists in a single season.

He was also able to record a triple double in just 22 minutes against the Suns on December 27—the Warriors ended up winning 115-86.

However, being an All-Star isn’t just about basketball. All-Stars have to be well-rounded players both on and off of the court.

Curry is a passionate supporter of the Nothing But Nets charity, and donated three life-saving bed nets for every three-point shot he made during the 2012-2013 season. You can help Curry end malaria by donating here: Nothing But Nets
