The two best teams in the West this season square off in what promises to be an EPIC Conference Finals, with the #1-seeded Golden State Warriors set to do battle with the #2-seeded Houston Rockets. Here’s our list of 10 bold predictions for the Warriors vs. Rockets Eastern Conference Finals.
1) Stephen Curry will provide two more "Holy #$@(!!!!" moments
Curry drained the corner three to force overtime agains the Pelicans and the 3/4 court buzzer-beater against the Grizzlies...we can't wait to see what he has in store with Jason Terry defending him.
2) Draymond Green will start a fight
Green is a really good player, but he's also one of the game's biggest instigators. His antics will inevitably end up irritating some of the Rockets more emotional players (Dwight Howard?), and we'll see something that elevates to something more than just a simple scuffle.
3) We’ll Have Another Injury…
We’re not happy to say this, but we’re taking the over for hospital visits in these injury-laden playoffs. Maybe Andrew Bogut?
4) Josh Smith will shoot the Rockets out of a game
Smith shocked absolutely everyone on planet Earth by spearheading Houston's Game 6 comeback over the Clippers with a barrage of three-pointers. That confidence is sure to carry over to this series, and when mixed with is extremely poor shot selection, insertion into the starting lineup, and 28.5 percent career three-point percentage, things are going to go south REAL quick.
5) Klay Thompson is going to go off
How much do you think he'll enjoy going up against James Harden's matador defense after facing Tony "First Team All-Defense" Allen?
6) Houston will shoot over 50 free throws in one game
Not only does Harden get to the foul line over 10 times per game, but Howard, Smith, and Clint Capela all shoot well below 50 percent from the charity stripe. Be prepared for a lot more "Hack-a-Whoever" this series.
7) James Harden will say "I'm the MVP" at least once
Probably after he makes two three-pointers in a row at home...and that will be followed by Stephen Curry torching him for the rest of the game. And that brings us to...
8) The most obnoxious "M-V-P" chants in NBA history
Golden State will be louder than normal when Curry is at the foul line to stick it to Harden that their guy won the award, and then Houston will do something to try to top it to support their guy. Expect there to be plenty of annoying gimmicks.
9) Golden State will win every home game by double-digits
The Warriors have only lost three times at home this season - once to the Spurs, and twice to the Grizzlies. Houston has yet to beat Golden State even once this year at any location, and they're not going to start having success at Oracle Arena now.
10) The Warriors will advance to the Finals in 5 games
Houston will win one game on their home floor, but that's all they'll get against the high-powered Warriors.
