There were very few negatives to come out of Georgia Tech’s dismantling of Alcorn State in their season opener. Unfortunately, I’m a miserable pessimist who thinks the Yellow Jacket’s season will go off the rails unless they improve these three things:
1. Special teams
Harrison Butker didn’t have the chance to attempt a field goal thanks to a dominant Tech offense that scored a touchdown on 10 of their first 11 drives, the outlier being a Marcus Marshall fumble. 10 touchdowns should equal 70 points, assuming no two point attempts, but thanks to a fumbled Ryan Rodwell hold on the second touchdown PAT, the Jackets were left with 69 points.
