An early criticism this season of Tech quarterback Justin Thomas had been that he’s tried to make plays on his own and force the action.
Early in the game Saturday in Durham, he let the game come to him and it served Tech well. He cashed in for a 74-yard scoring drive late in the first half that all but kept Tech in the game. His 10-yard touchdown pass to Ricky Jeune on third and goal with 30 seconds to go before halftime pulled Tech to within 19-10 of Duke.
Thomas had found the running a tough go early in the game, turning to his left and finding little but defensive traffic.
