Technical Tidbits 9/3: Football Starts the Season With a Win

Paul Johnson and the Georgia Tech football team got the season started on Saturday with a 41-0 win over Alcorn State. Saturday’s win was the debut of new defensive coordinator Nate Woody and his 3-4 defense. It was a nice debut as the shutout was the first for the Jackets since October 19, 2013. Offensively, the Jackets rushed for 439 yards, but were far from perfect through the air. Despite finishing 9-18, quarterback Taquon Marshall had multiple overthrows and underthrows.

Meanwhile on the Flats, cross country, which starts its season next weekend, was tabbed to finish ninth in the conference on the men’s side, while the women were pegged at twelfth.
