This was an interesting article. It focuses on Yellow Jacket senior Nathan Cottrell and how he’s adapted to his new role on the special teams — in particular as the punting team’s gunner. Thinking about what the gunner does and the impact they can have on a punt, it’s quite a key role. Tech has a wonderful punter in Pressley Harvin III. More often than not, his punts will position the ball in a place that can pin the opposing team deep in their own territory. Often, it requires a gunner to be able to down the ball to ensure that kind of advantageous field position for Tech’s defense.
