Georgia Tech offensive coordinator Dave Patenaude shared some insights into how he makes his decision as to which quarterback is in for a play. A lot of it seems to basically come down to what one would expect, including defenses, schemes, filed position etc. The important thing I took away from these insights was the statement regarding how “[t]he packages can change by opponent.” My question would be, wouldn’t opponents adapt their defenses to be more in line with what has already worked before in countering Tech’s offense and, in particular, its quarterbacks? So, assuming they have already game planned for each of the quarterbacks, would it be any less advantageous to just have a starting quarterback and let them play the majority of the game?
