There’s a lot being said in this article. Basically, it puts forth a pretty good argument that Tech’s hiring of Paul Johnson by then athletic director Dave Braine was as bold a move as current athletic director Todd Stanbury’s hiring of Geoff Collins. CPJ fit the bill for what Braine viewed Tech to be, “an academic institution that happens to play football.”
While bold itself, Stanbury’s hiring of CGC is as antipodal a hiring as you can imagine. And it goes hand in hand with CGC’s rebranding efforts that come with it. This is firmly rooted in the belief that Tech can be a viable recruiting destination for the best players in the country.
