Several Tech football players will be wearing single-digit uniforms in 2019. Many of these players wore different numbered jerseys last season. Of course, wearing a single-digit number is often a matter of seniority and starting status for many colleges. But I find it interesting how head coach Geoff Collins simply requires a written statement explaining why they want to wear a single-digit number.
In the case of Jalen Camp, he wore the number one as a senior in high school, and he wanted to do the same for his senior year at Tech. Sophomore Juanyeh Thomas is also going to be donning the number one jersey this season, though the article doesn’t go into what his reasoning is.
