As the head coach of the Georgia Tech football team, Geoff Collins is probably more ideally placed than any other coach in the NCAA. This quote from the article confirms it: “‘One day, I’m going to be the head coach at Georgia Tech.’ I’m formulating this vision of what this program is supposed to be, how it’s supposed to look, how it’s supposed to recruit to this great city and great academic environment.” That statement says a lot. I think if I were ever tasked with hiring a college football coach, then ensuring they have such a vision would likely be the key to finding the right person for the job.
