The side-effects of the Covid-19 pandemic continue to play out in the sports world. For college athletics and their respective athletic departments, the cancellation of games has meant a major hit to revenue from athletic events — this lost revenue from ticket sales and payout from television contracts. The latter case is one that probably doesn’t come to mind at first but makes sense. Whether it’s contracts with ESPN or other networks, this has impacted schools like Georgia Tech, as well, as this article discusses. With the postponements or cancellation of Tech basketball games that we’ve seen in recent weeks hopefully this isn’t a trend that continues.
