Tech’s history in the Gator Bowl is a long one, featuring seven previous games and a number of very impressive performances by some of Tech’s finest players. Joe Hamilton quarterbacked the Jackets to two straight appearances in 1999 and 2000, beating Notre Dame in the first matchup and losing to Miami in what was his final career game on the Flats. Tech wouldn’t be back until 2007 in the game that officially ushered in the Paul Johnson era, a blown 18-point lead to West Virginia that featured a 186-yard, 2-touchdown performance by Calvin Johnson. Hopefully Tech can snap that two-game losing streak which dates back to the previous century this time around.
