From the moment Geoff Collins was hired as Georgia Tech’s head football coach last year, recruiting great players (especially from the Atlanta area) was a key goal. So far, Collins has passed the test as a recruiter, pulling in the 247Sports 24th ranked class in the nation. 21 players signed, including four-star QB Jeff Sims, who flipped from Florida State. Although it was a great day for the football program, the highest-rated recruit that’s committed to Tech, RB Jahmyr Gibbs, did not sign and is waiting until February to do so. Collins will have to fend off schools like Florida and Alabama for Gibbs’ services, and I will be very happy if he can keep the blue bloods away.
