Today marks the 150th anniversary of college football. The first college football game was between Rutgers and Princeton. That game took place on November 6, 1869. To commemorate the event, this AJC article provides a nostalgic look back at Georgia Tech’s first football team. That Tech team went 0-3 in its first season back in 1892. The following season they fared a little better. Interestingly enough, they would get their first ever victory against some school from Athens.
Georgia Tech’s center, William Lay III was named as one of 83 nominees for the Burlsworth Trophy. The announcement of the nominees for the 10th annual award was made yesterday by the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation.
